Community Standards & Spotlight Terms
Last updated July 2026. These apply to Community Spotlights (parent business listings and shout-outs) and to any ad or deal posted to the school community. This is a starting template; have it reviewed by counsel before launch.
Keep it family friendly
Everything posted must be appropriate for an elementary-school community, including children who may see it. Do not post:
- Profanity, hate speech, harassment, bullying, or content that targets or demeans any person or group.
- Nudity, sexual content, violence, or anything frightening or graphic.
- Alcohol, tobacco, vaping, cannabis, firearms, weapons, gambling, or other age-restricted or adult products and services.
- Political campaigning, election content, or material intended to divide the community.
- Anything illegal, or that promotes unsafe or illegal activity.
Be honest and fair
- Describe your business or service truthfully. No false claims, fake discounts, scams, or "get rich" schemes.
- Only advertise something you can actually provide, and follow through on what you offer.
- Do not use the directory or Spotlights to send spam or to collect families' contact information for unrelated marketing.
- Business dealings happen directly between you and other families. Be professional and responsive.
Shout-outs: be kind and get consent
- Shout-outs are for celebrations and encouragement (birthdays, congratulations, thank-yous). Keep them positive.
- Do not call out, embarrass, or single out anyone in a negative way.
- Get permission before naming or showing another family or child, and never share a child's full name, address, or other private details.
Images and content you post
- Only upload images you own or have the right to use. No copyrighted logos, photos, or artwork you don't have permission for.
- Images must meet the same family-friendly standard above.
- You are responsible for everything in your listing.
The school's right to refuse, edit, or remove
The school and its parent group review every listing. We may refuse, edit, shorten, relabel, or remove any listing at any time, with or without notice, if in our sole judgment it does not meet these standards, does not fit the community, or for any other reason. Approval of a listing does not mean we endorse it, and we may remove a listing even after it is published.
Paid listings and refunds
Some listings have a fee that supports the school's nonprofit. If a listing is removed because it violates these standards, the fee is not refunded. If a listing is removed for reasons unrelated to a violation, the school may, at its discretion, offer to repost it or refund the fee. Fees are paid directly to the nonprofit; the platform does not process them.
No endorsement, and your own risk
Listings are posted by families, not by the school or the platform. The school, the parent group, and the platform do not endorse, guarantee, or take responsibility for any business, service, product, or claim in a listing. Any agreement or transaction is solely between you and the advertiser. Please use your own good judgment.
Reporting a problem
If you see a listing that does not belong here, contact a school admin or email support@myschoolport.com. Repeated or serious violations may result in losing access to posting.
